Frequently asked questions

Which SSL certificate should I choose?

A standard website with one domain needs DV. Subdomains: wildcard. Several distinct domains: multi-domain (SAN). For finance, banking, or public sector: OV or EV with prevalidation.

What is the difference between DV, OV, and EV?

DV verifies only domain ownership and is issued automatically. OV and EV verify your company identity via business registry and phone confirmation. With prevalidation, new OV/EV certificates are issued instantly for up to one year.

How long is an SSL certificate valid?

Maximum 398 days today. From 15 March 2026 the maximum drops to 200 days, from 15 March 2027 to 100 days, and from 15 March 2029 to 47 days. ACME automation is strongly recommended.
